Last October I was hired by Melville Winery to shoot harvest at their estate vineyard in Lompoc, CA. Images from the shoot were used for their new website and print collateral. We focused on creating authentic images of the harvesting process. The inherent challenge is that Melville harvests their grapes at night and the wee hours of the morning. In an effort to keep pace with the crew harvesting the grapes I decided not to use any strobes. The work lights on the tractor provided such a beautiful and dynamic light that I ran with it. As the dawn light filled the sky I had a few fleeting moments to get the job done. Following the harvest I shot overviews of the winemaking facility and vineyard.
