Last winter, on a crisp and chilly day, I took my boat out with my friend Terekah NaJuwan. I had just recently purchased a newer motor and I was still performing sea trials to get to know her well. We set out of the Santa Barbara harbor and went South/East down the coast. On the way back we stumbled upon this dilapidated sailboat that was moored offshore. Cormorants are fascinating prehistoric creatures and I love the way that they are quick to colonize any platform provided for them. As we approached on a drift this one cormorant took flight.
