Tsunami in Hawaii

I’m on the North Shore of Ohau working on a film project and last night we had to evacuate because of the tsunami warnings following the 8.9 earthquake in Japan. After a long night we came back down the hill to the coastline. I shot a couple of time-lapses of the tidal swing that was still happening and until I edit them here are a couple of photos that show the extreme swings that were happening.

The following shots were taken over a matter of minutes some seven hours following the peak of the tsunami.

Shot of the reef with a normal amount of water.

Water is starting to pull off the reef.

Reef fully exposed.
